I'm not quite sure why there are so many complaints about the vocalist. As far as the lyrics go, I have to say I'm totally blown away that they could write a song about global warming and make something this amazing. I think her voice suits the mood of the compositions perfectly. It's breathy, it's smooth, it's emotional. This album strikes a great balance between upbeat and laid back; I love listening to it from beginning to end. I've been recommending it to everyone I know.
if you have a chance you definetly need to give this cd a go. this is the best freaking trance-chill album i've ever had the pleasure of listening to. the entire cd is great without any bad ones. the lyrics are all amazingly written and beautiful. check out the remix dance versions too they're phenomimal
Whoever wrote these songs also colors with crayons and can't stay inside the lines. What's up with these vocals. The production values are pretty good, but they're overshadowed by the talentless vocalist and her nonsensical lyrics which ruin this album like a big blob of ketchup on a white silk shirt. Justine Suissa is obviously an android without an emotion chip, and she'd be waiting tables had Autotune not been invented. Then there's the matter of the hideous, childish lyrics. If you insist on buying this, listen to it only with your senses deadened by substances. Otherwise you'll quickly realize that you've paid good money for empty music.
Add beautiful vocals.BANG, this is exactly what "Above and Beyond Featuring Oceanlab" has done with traditional "vocal trance" music with this fantastic collection called, "Sirens of the Sea." My son introduced me to "Above and Beyond Featuring OceanLab's" "Sirens of The Sea," and I am still searching for, and have yet to find "tance" music by any other group as well balanced and pleasing to the ear as "Above and Beyond." I should mention, because I'm not a fan of the "club" type mixes, fans who prefer that kind of music will probably prefer the Remixes version of "Sirens of the Sea" also available on Amazon. The lead track, "Sirens of the Sea," (track #2) is PERFECT. I love her timing, because it contains the personality of imperfection. Ease off on the "whumpa whumpa" club beat,3. Based on my pre-Sirens "vocal trance" experience, I would have suggested the following tweaking:1. (Remember that Verizon Wireless commercial which made fun of "Klaus and Deter's" music at the youth hostel). But "Sirens" is my favorite track.Justine Suissa does a great job on this CD.
The whole CD is a collection of songs similarly produced, and they are all on my I-Pod along with my favorite music.
I could listen to music like this continuously for weeks or months.
Her singing to me is the gorgeous icing on the cake.I hope "A&B" continue to release music just like this, which I am coming to understand is not mainstream "trance," if there is such a thing.
Add more harmony,2.
Because of this, it seems to me that the her performance strikes a perfect balance with the electronic precision of the music.
It is fantastic.
As a scuba diver who loves to be under the water, the whole song, including the wonderful lyrics, really does a number on me.
They have added a new, interesting and intoxicating dimension to the typical and often (to me at least) boring "trance" experience.
If you are new to "trance" or "A&B," I would suggest starting with this CD, then carefully exploring other CDs in the genre, because most of the genre falls short of "Above and Beyond."
I've been on a chill-out kick lately, and this CD was reccomended to me by an Internet friend so I went ahead and bought it. To make matters worse, she's only barely produced compared to the lavish production the music seems to have recieved, Oceanlab probably didn't even want to waste time with her, she's that bad.As a final thought on this disc let me inform you that the liner notes contain a picture of the three people who were involved with this trainwreck smiling from ear to ear, and for the love of all that is sacred I can't imagine why. And it seems I've failed to mention the fact that EVERY TRACK HAS LYRICS.
Lemme break it down:For the most part, the beats are catchy and produced well, and seem to drive a nice line between chill and dance-y. This CD makes Highschool Musical look like the work of The Beatles. This unforunate blemish on what would have otherwise been a mediocre album is magnified by one of the most plain-Jane vanilla trance vocalists I have ever heard. I will take his opinion with a grain of salt from now on.Why am I being such a hater.
Once again folks, worse than Sonic R, but at least you could turn the lyrics off in that. Also the box seems to be made of more recycled materials than other CD boxes. This is the extent of nice things I can say about this CD, however, and that is entirely the fault of the lyric writer and the vocalist from Hell.I have NEVER heard such inane, childish, and unfufilling lyrics since Sonic R on the Sega Saturn. They are an insult to any listener's intelligence; I understand that most people might listen to this CD on recreational substances and not care about the lyrical quality, but I'm not one of them so this was a MAJOR, MAJOR disappointment.
She sounds like she takes her singing as another ho-hum 9 to 5 day at the terribly boring office you see in all the office comedies. Denial, perhaps.Don't make the $13 mistake I did, there are far better trance artists and albums out there waiting for your money.
